Here is a shot of the scope. It is an 8" diameter Dobsonian design. The mount is constructed of 3/4" birch veneer plywood, the bearings out of plastic pipe ends, the tube is Sonotube ( the stuff the concrete guys use to pour forms ) that has been reinforced and over coated with decorative texture spray. The ends of the tube are reinforced with auto body detail strips. I ground the main mirror over a period of several years, working on it, putting it up, working again. After several hours of polishing and testing the image it formed, I had it aluminized and over coated at a place in Merlin that produces optics for the military. Bet you did not know that a place like that existed in Merlin! I purchased the finder, spider mount and mirror, and the main mirror mount commercially.
