"Music is my life, it is not my livelihood."
My name is Dave (surprise!) and I'm glad you stopped by to visit. Since you've gotten to this page, I assume you have acquired some knowledge of The Ventures. Now it's time to focus on other music and some information about me.
My passion for many years was photography. As a photographer in school for student newspapers and yearbooks, I thought I would become a photojournalist. But I discovered I had a stronger passion: music. I became a music major, first with alto sax as my major instrument, and in my second semester, switching to flute. And all the time, I was voraciously acquiring records and discovering new music. My photography was falling by the wayside... After 3 years, I had enough of college, and found a job in - guess what? - photography! I became a lab technician at a photo lab, printing NASA photos from Goddard Space Flight Center. My interest in photography was renewed, and I burned up at least one roll of film a day. To make a long story short, the skills in photography led to working as a process cameraman for a print shop, and for the most part, I have worked in some facet of the graphics industry for more than 20 years. And all the time, I was voraciously acquiring records and discovering new music. And I'm still enjoying the music of The Ventures....1984: Self-portrait during a quiet moment on the Marin Co.
